Unite Australia with New Zealand

Originally, there were going to be 9 states and territories in the Commonwealth of Australasia … including North and South New Zealand.

It now makes a whole lot more sense to create a single South Pacific nation … joint economies, foreign affairs, currency, airlines, military, air forces, navies, trade … our protectorates would range from the Cook Islands to Christmas Island …

The United Republics of Oceania … ANZUR …

I know amalgamation is a dirty word in some circles, but the benefits on a national scale are as important today as they were when a bunch of colonies in the South Pacific got together over 100 years ago.

I don't think more centralisation of power will be good for the people (nor for efficiency or the rest of it). With separate sovereign countries, you actually get competition between governments (just as you do with businesses). A monopoly government is at least as bad (significantly worse, in my opinion) than a monopoly company. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?
