For ease of administration (because I have to do my full time job), I just took the most active threads, not the highest votes. In the future, I'll try to do the highest votes.Remember, this is a wiki, so if you're registered, you can actually make changes to this page. Do you find this valuable? |

Hmm, this is difficult:1)By Activity: The most active thread could be the loudest voice - irrespective of the quality of the ideas. It might even be the biggest complainer and most negative influence. 2) By Popularity: The popularity of a thread does not necessarily guarantee the quality of the ideas either. Often, the more radical idea is harder to swallow, and as such receives little initial support. But this in itself does not negate its value. I propose that both are taken into consideration. I must confess, I have a vested interest here since most of my comments attract few votes, and yet I consider them to be realistic and valuable. Even though my contributions are sometimes critical, they are meant in a constructive manner, not antagonistic or condescending. Do you find this valuable? |

I think you need a formula that does both... Better yet, we should have had a rating system rather than a yes/no.I agree you need to take both into account - though by what formula is hard to tell. It's also hard to know what to do with total votes... do we subtract no from yes? I'd say not necessarily, since anything that attracts high level of interest is probably worth debating a bit more. I made some changes to the Top Ideas, adding a couple I felt were worthy to add based on having at least close to 20 votes, above 50% agreement (except the Organ Donation one since I didn't put that there in the first place), and at least one post (feel free to increase this post requirement). I also removed one that I felt was a biased result, due to the fact it received 100 "yes" votes in less that 24 hours (seemed to me one person felt the need to flood-vote certain topics to get theirs in the top).I am currently trying to find out if there's a way of adding a CAPTCHA or something into the voting system, so there's less chance of problems like this occurring again (ozideas, I took your advice and signed up! Good job on the site BTW :)) Do you find this valuable? |

Sorry it sometimes takes a few days before I update the top list. Tonight it took me around 2 hours to update the one page, because I have to go through EVERY post, work out the percentages of votes, etc. and then resort them into order from most to least popular. Not to mention uni has just started up again for the semester, which leaves me little time to update. Bear with me :) the results are looking good so far! Make sure you get your mates to sign the petition too, we got plenty of ideas but unless we get the signatures it'll all be for naught.
