Replace all Commonwealth cars with full plug-in electric cars, tendered from GMH, Ford or Toyota. That's like 50,000 vehicles. Watch how fast the cost comes down and production is ramped up. This will filter down to the States and finally the public. 58  out of 83 found this valuable. Do you?

I just watched the doco WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR again ... if you haven't seen it, it is a must ... and I think even more strongly now that this could be a major export market for Australia.

If GMH, Ford and Toyota had the 'steel' to develop a fully electric car to the specs that would satify a government tender and then sold them to the public ... and if the Australian government encouraged the required infratructure like charging stations ... they could export these cars hand over fist.

Seems a lot of people have the same idea, with three threads now pretty much saying the same thing ... maybe there should be a new heading for electric cars.

Seems General Motors is bringing back the car they "killed" ... the Volt ... in 2009. We won't see it until 2011, but it's a start. It will foster competition.
