Immigration should be subject to the lack of resources in Australia.
Feb 21 2008, 11:39 PM EST Keep a focus on local jobs and resources for local people. If we need to import professionals so be it, but not at the expense of employing and/or training our own citizens. I don't know the answer to the influx of Refugees, but the act of looking after our own people's interests first is merely practical and should not be miss-understood as racist or supremacist. This view might sound selfish to the compassionate and the multi-culturalist but if our own back-yard is kept in good order, then we can begin to help others in a more constructive and lasting manner. 22 out of 45 found this valuable. RE: Immigration should be subject to the lack of resources in Australia.
Feb 25 2008, 8:22 PM EST I particularly object to the fact that foreign students who come to study here end up staying here, whilst our own graduates still find it difficult to get a job because they compete with the foreigners. My son graduated in IT 3 years ago and it took him more than 6 months to get a job. At every interview he went to, there were foreign applicants waiting to be interviewed. 3 out of 7 found this valuable. Do you? |

Feb 27 2008, 12:38 AM EST "What a crap idea. We don't lack resources as far as I can tell, except for one, being, oops ... people."I think you have missunderstood me. Yes, I agree with you - we don't lack resources here - that's why an immigration policy should be SUBJECT to the local needs. This may mean in the current situation that there are no benefits to Australia to allow any immigration. Do you see what I mean? (I am not condoning sending people back to their homeland if its back to their death - I don't profess to know where we should draw the line either). 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
