We do not need 3 government run television stations, ABC, SBS and now ABC2 digital. Either close SBS or merge it with the ABC as it serves no purpose.

Art isn't just pictures in a gallery. Its something everyone can benefit from doing. Children love it, every picture tells something about the child and their life. People can use it to express their feelings, describe their pain, happiness or joy when sometimes words just won't do. It expresses culture and history, is a great vehicle for demanding political change, and is a wonderful way of expressing both your own identity and ethnic identity. Many people have found it healing to draw when going through trauma, or even to explain the trauma. If we provided a greater place for it in education, I feel we would go a long way towards helping children with behavioural problems as well as the sheer expressiveness of it. It is a rich dimension to the enjoyment of life. And Yes, to look at great artwork is absolutely wonderful. But to have everyone experiencing their own pleasure in self-expression is even more valuable, and enriches a nation. So. please, lets spend more time and money on making this possible for everyone.

Allow ABC to advertise to receive increased revenue...
Open up the spectrum to as many new channels as the market is willing to pay for. If the owners of the spectrum want to multicast, datacast, or use the spectrum for any innovative purpose they can think of other than traditional broadcasting, then they shouldn't need to ask the government for permission. Privatise the ABC and SBS. |

More people in the world know Australia through our films … and TV … than almost any other thing … apart maybe for sport. We should be supporting the film industry much more than we do for the dollars it brings in through tourism and good will. We should also encourage much more film production in Australia through tax breaks for overseas investors and local facilities. |

We need to build and fund more money for art spaces. Tons of groups can even find a decent place to meet, let alone create their art. Just like common parks and fields where community sports clubs can meet, we need to have common, government funded art areas too.
